Feeling Crafty???

Okay, I have a cute craft in the works for a 12-days of Christmas countdown thingy (kinda like an advent calendar, but I'm only gonna do 12 days on this one. Anyway, I guess I better get on it...I'm a chronic procrastinator, so who knows how long it will take me to get done. I'll post pics when I get it done ( if it turns out ;D ). But here's a cute idea to tide you over. Not sure I'll make one of these this year...too many irons in the fire. But, I'll keep it in my back pocket for next year!!

Instructions here.

*HOT* Battery Deal at Staples!!

I don't do a lot of shopping at Staples because there isn't one very convenient to my house. But, I just might make the drive for this deal...

Right now they are advertising $12.99 20-pack AA or AAA Duracell batteries and you'll get 100% back in Staples Rewards! The limit is actually 2, so you can get 40 batteries for essentially free!! Now, obviously, your OOP would be $26, and you'll get your rewards back later, but if you already have rewards you can roll, then your OOP could be quite low!!

This deal is advertised in the Black Friday ad through Saturday, 11/28 AND the following week's ad, so you can score this deal through the 6th! AND, starting Saturday, you can use this coupon to score an extra 10% off one pack, making this a money maker! --Oh, I'm pretty sure Staples takes MQs....there were $.75 coupons in the 11/15 SS and the 11/1 P&G!!

Make a Pledge and Save $1.50 on Wet Ones!

It's time to make another pledge, folks. Make your pledge to help stop the spread of germs this cold and flu season in order to print your $1.50 coupon for Wet Ones. Don't forget to click your "back" button to print it twice! This is an awesome coupon and should make for some cheap, if not FREE wipes!!

In the Mood for Some Target Freebies??

Feed a Child, and Save a Buck

Head on over here and make a pledge to place a little note in your child's lunchbox. For doing so, Lunchables will provide a lunch to a child in need. Also, you'll be able to print a $1 Lunchables coupon. Pretty good deal for doing a good deed. And so easy, too!!

Another Fun Fall Craft

Hungry for another fun, cheap fall craft?? How 'bout a pinecone bird feeder?? For this project, I snagged 3 pinecones for free, compliments of the KC Zoo (found them lying on the ground near the parking lot and the light-bulb came on: project!!). We used curling ribbon (already had it on hand), peanut butter, (I have plenty of that in the stockpile!) and bird seed that I grabbed at Big Lots for about $3.

First, we tied the ribbon around the top of the pinecone so we could hang them on the tree when we were all done. Then we smeared PB all over each pinecone. Then, we rolled them around in a container full of bird seed, making sure to cover it completely and pat it on tight.

Then we tied them to the tree for the birds to enjoy! Jack had a blast doing this project and he has been excited to watch out the window to see if any birds have been enjoying his snack!!

A Full Mailbox!

Here's just another example that it pays to fill out rebate forms, sign up for freebies, and write to companies. This is what I received in my mailbox in one day a couple weeks back. I had written to Bar-S and Beachnut, complimenting their products. In return, I got a "VIP certificate" good toward $5 worth of Bar-S products, as well as four $.25 off coupons. From Beachnut I got a whole welcome baby pack with several product coupons, including one $1 toward any Beachnut product. Why write to companies?? CouponingToDisney has a post here explaining exactly why she writes to companies, and she even has the links to hundreds of companies listed out for you!! Basically, she writes to five companies a day giving feedback on their products. I can attest that this only takes a couple minutes, and within days, you typically receive coupons from these companies along with a letter thanking you for your input. Today, I received 2 FREE meal coupons from Michelina's frozen meals...how awesome is that for just about 60 seconds worth of work!?

On the same day I also received a $1.50 coupon from Pampers, for signing up here.
I also got a $6.75 check from Caregiver's Marketplace for submitting my Huggies receipts. They are a company that offers rebates on products that most caregivers would use. Currently, they kind of cater to those caring for seniors, but they do offer a rebate on Huggies diapers, pullups, and certain wipes. You get $.75 back for each pack purchased, which doesn't sound like much, but it adds up, and it's kind of like having an extra $.75 coupon for each pack! You just sign up, print out a rebate form, save up receipts for 5 or more products purchased, and then send it in and you'll receive a check back! Read more here. I've been doing this for about a year now and it's super easy. I only wish I had known about it with my first baby, since I was always a loyal Huggies buyer!!

The other two things were store coupons for signing up for their mailing lists. One for 30% off my purchase, and one for $5 off a $10 purchase! Both high-value coupons--all for signing up on a list. Pretty easy!!

Just thought I'd share...just a few more ways to save!!

Getting Crafty

Well, I meant to post this around Halloween, and totally forgot. While the craft really no longer pertains to the current holiday, maybe you can put a new spin on it to make your own special craft. I just wanted to post this to show you you can have tons of fun with the kids, let them use their imagination, and you don't need some fancy art set to do it.

For this project, I drew a simple "ghost" shape on the yellow paper, then cut it out. I discarded the inner part, just leaving the outline. I taped it to a sheet of black paper, making a template. We used white poster paint (check it out people...got it on clearance for SIX CENTS at CVS!!! I LOVE CVS!!!) and a cut up sponge (got the sponge for FREE at Target a while back. I hate them as actual cleaning tools--they totally suck for that purpose. But, they make great painting sponges!!).

I let my 3 year old "stamp" the white paint onto the paper, filling up the template to fill in the entire ghost. Once the template was removed and the paint dried, he used water colors to paint the ghost's face. Those are his little marks all over it...he then decided they didn't make a great face and he needed Mommy's help!) He had lots of fun making 3 of these--one for Mommy & Daddy, and one for each of his grandparents.

I just wanted to share so you could possibly enjoy this fun, free craft with your little ones, too!!!

A Really Nice Freebie!!

I just wanted to add this post to show you that signing up for freebies really can pay off. While some of you have found that occasionally you sign up for something and never receive it, other times you get something really great.

A while back a company called Boiron offered this 3-pack of homeopathic children's cold remedies to moms who blog. Since I obviously qualify, I signed up and was amazed to get my nicely packaged gift-pack in the mail just a couple weeks later. It was quite convenient, too, because about that time Jack came down with a minor cold and I was able to treat his symptoms for FREE with these products and I must say, they worked like a charm!! I would definitely recommend this product to any mom with littles!!

So don't be timid about signing up for those freebies, guys!!! You never know when you'll score big!

My Burt's Bees Bargains!

Did you get in on the Burt's Bees grab bag promo??? I did and I scored these two bags, plus the extra lip balm and cuticle balm for just $55 shipped!! I was able to split them up into 4 gifts!! I just thought I'd share to keep you thinking outside of the box. These kinds of promos are an excellent way to score a great gift for not a lot of money. (Oh--these grab bags contained a little round coin-purse-looking-thing and I put a tone of smaller items in each one as gifts for my son's teachers. I saw the little bags at CVS today with only 3 lip items in them for $12.99...I made a WAY nicer gift for less by going this route!)

While these grab bags are now out of stock, you can still get in on the Body Shop Beauty of Giving Grab Bag. The site boasts that these bags contain $50-$75 retail value items for only $15 each!! You can get more info and order here.

Target, You Disappoint Me!!

The gig is up!!! Oh, no. The moment I feared has now come. Target has begun limiting their printable coupons!! Apparently, they are now only allowing two prints per computer and possibly per transaction!! Plus, instead of printing them from our beloved HotCouponWorld, you'll now only be able to print them through the official Target website (which, I'm guessing, will mean fewer available at a time). I'll post more as I find out more....but this is for sure a downpour on my parade!!!

Get Your FREE 8x10 Canvas!!

Have you heard of this?? The Canvas People are offering a FREE 8x10 photo canvas; just pay shipping. Or, you can receive $55 off any size you choose (the 11x11 is just $4 more!). It is super-easy to order. Just go here, upload your photo, choose size, frame, special effects, and then all your shipping/billing info. Now, shipping was a little pricey--I paid $14.95 for my 8x10. I thought about bumping it up to an 11x11, but that also bumps your shipping to $17.95 so I just stuck with "free." I got this one for myself: But it seems to me that this would make a pretty great Christmas present for someone on your list!!!

I haven't done much investigating, but I'm wondering if there is a better deal to be had by price matching. Lemme know if you know of a deal!!

More Deals for Vickies!!!

If you are a member of the Pink Nation, then you probably received a mailer in your snail-mail-box a week or so ago good for a FREE VS panty (NO purchase necessary, AND $10 off any bra). I love those coupons. I used to let them go to waste if I wasn't in need of a pricey bra. These days I have no shame in walking in, selecting my FREE underwear with NO purchase. Hey--that's what the coupon offers! And I'm not passing up a FREE pair of good underwear!!

Well, if you didn't receive that mailer, then you are in luck. Now you can print this coupon to receive a free pair of VS panties with ANY purchase (not quite as good as NO purchase, but remember: ANY purchase means no minimum. So scout around the store for a lotion or something small on clearance to score your best deal.)

PLUS ~ don't forget about their promo that's running through November 30th in store and online: the Mystery Rewards Card promo. For every purchase you make of $10 or more, you'll receive back a VS gift card quaranteed to be worth $10...but should you be especially lucky, you may walk out with a card worth up to $500!!! You won't know until the gift card redemption period of December 1-24. Sounds like a pretty sweet deal to me. But remember, to get your bonus gift card, you must make a purchase of $10 or more.

Remember they have all kids of items fit for gifting to those younger family members you may have on your holiday gift list. They have great lotions and fragrance sets, and usually have some great robes and cozy stuff. So see if you can cross someone off the holiday "to buy" list while you are at it! Happy shopping!!

Samaritan's Purse: Operation Christmas Child

Have you heard of Operation Christmas Child? Specifically, filling shoe boxes with presents for children around the world whose total life possessions don't amount to our excess. If you're like me, you've heard of this, but never been involved. This year, I'm motivated. Looking around at the excess that couponing has created for me, I'm reminded of not only just how blessed I am, but of how incredibly selfish it would be to not share these blessings with those in need.

Last year, I was able to pack 2 huge boxes full of toiletries, cold medicines, cleaning supplies, and feminine products to take down to a local battered women's shelter. I totaled the value of the included items at over $400!!! For me, it probably cost somewhere around $30 OOP. I know the reason for giving is not to brag about what you are able to give. Please don't think I'm trying to do that. I'm trying to motivate you all to be creative with your bargain shopping to not only spend less on what your family needs, but to stretch your bucks in amazing ways to make a world of difference for others. While I still think I'll pack up those boxes for the women's shelter this year, I also plan to take part in Operation Christmas Child via Samaritan's Purse. And I encourage you to do the same.

I got my general information about the program here. It's amazing what a shoe box full of inexpensive gifts can do for a child who has so little. Visit their site, investigate the process, and how you can help. Then, check out this video MummyDeals has posted on how she was able to pack 45 boxes for only $45 this year. Now, I certainly won't be able to put together 45 boxes this year, but I sure do have plans for next year!!!

As so many of you are new to the couponing world, and even for those of you who are old pros. How about joining me in an effort. For 2010, I plan to keep a large plastic tote in my basement by my other stockpile items for the sole purpose of filling with items worthy of those shoebox presents. By this time next year, I'm guessing that with all the freebies and cheapies and total bargain buys, that tote should be FULL, and ready to fill up 45 (maybe more!!) boxes. Are you with me??? This should be CAKE, people!! Lets use our coupons for some good!!

So you want to get involved this year?? There is still plenty of time! National Collection Week is next week, November 16-23. I was surprised there are several drop-off locations right around me at local churches (my ignorance to this process had me believing for years now that you were responsible for shipping those boxes somewhere. Not the case!). Check out the drop-off locations near you. On the site you will also find tips on how to fill the boxes, what is most needed, etc.

New Walgreens Deals, 11/15 - 11/21

My Savers Steals, 11/11

Have you ever shopped at Savers?? They are new in the Overland Park and Olathe areas. Apparently they've been around for a while in Independence. Anyway, they tout themselves as an upscale Goodwill. I don't know that they are that much more "upscale" in appearance, but they definitely have "gently used" items versus some of the shabby stuff you can find at other thrift stores. Anyway, I know some of you draw the line at buying used. I am not one of those people. My philosophy: if it can be thrown in a washing machine or wiped down with a Lysol wipe, it's fair game.

So why the truck-load of stuff you see pictured above?? Wednesday was Labor Day, and in honor, Savers held a 50% off ALL used clothing and accessories!! I kid you not, I spent THREE hours in there scouring the racks. Granted, probably 45 minutes or more was spent waiting in line for the dressing room, and then frantically trying on my overflowing cart-load of stuff!!

Among my bargains: A cute hoodie from Christopher & Banks, a Banana Republic top-new with tags, Urban Outfitters top-new with tags, DKNY purse--looks new!, a pair of Strid Rite sandals for the little one--can't even tell they were ever worn ($2.50, people!!!), a pair of Adidas soccer cleats for the bigger little one ($2.50!!), the cute little "sports" rolling backpack ($2, and when I got home and was checkin' out all my steals, I opened this up to find the cute little Ralph Lauren kids shirt inside....bonus!), a pair of jeans from the GAP, Khakis from Banana Republic, 2 more slacks from the Limited and Express. I got several little NEW cosmetics bags for $1 or less to put Christmas gifts in (i.e. the Burt's Bee's bargains I got)--and did you notice the cute little lime green one? Yeah--that's a VERA BRADLEY bag NEW WITH TAGS that I scored for $2. Oh yeah--I'm SO good!! All in all I got 4 purses/bags (I have a real thing for bags), a couple baskets for "gift baskets," and that little yellow plaque in the middle (although I love the saying on it, "M is for Mom, not Maid") I intend to do something crafty with that.

Total spent for all that yummy goodness: $77.91. I think that is none too shabby!!

My PetCo Steal, 11/11

Not sure how I got it (I am a PetCo perks member, but this mailer came as a "Welcome your new puppy" kind of thing) but it came just in time for my shopping day. It included 3 coupons:
$3 off Eukanuba puppy food
$2 off Nylabone puppy starter kit
and $5 your next purchase (no minimum stated!)

So, I grabbed this KONG Wubba for my 3 four-legged babies' stocking. $7.99 - $5 coupon = $3.22 OOP. Not bad for an expensive dog toy. Merry Dogmas, pups!!

By the way, PetCo is apparently doing away with their Buy 10 bags of dog food, Get one free Perks promo. They have switched they loyalty program to Spend $100, get a $10 coupon. I don't shop there enough to have that effect me, but the lady also explained that apparently by switching your card over to the new program, you'd get $500 (?!?) worth of store coupons.... so that could possibly make for some great deals. I'll keep you posted as to wether or not I ever actually GET those coupons!!

One more thing--their receipt has one of those survey thingys at the bottom...call the number, rate your service, get a code for $2 off your next $5+ item purchase. More cheap toys! Yeah!! (Or--paired with a MQ, that could make for cheap dog treats....)

My Wags Steals, 11/11

So Wednesday I thoroughly enjoyed a day of shopping by myself. Alllllll by myself...no kids. It was pure bliss. Don't get me wrong. I love the kids dearly, but it is impossible to get any serious shopping done with them in tow. So without them, I crammed as many bargain runs in as I could...and enjoyed every minute of it! Since I did pretty well, I thought I'd take a moment to share my steals with you!

The above is what I got at Walgreens, in three separate transactions.
6 Warm Delights: $.99 with in-ad Q - $.50 IP = $.49 each! (yum!!)
4 Betty Crocker frostings, $1.29 with in-ad Q - $.50 10/25SS = $.79 each!

A Freebie from Coinstar

I've always been skeptical of Coinstar, mainly because when they count your change, they take a cut (who wants that!!). But who knew you can cash in your coins for a gift card for NO fee! Plus, today through December 6th, they are offering a bonus $10 when you cash in $40 worth of change for a gift card. Here's what you do:

  • Find a location...they are located in many retail and convenience stores (I most recently saw one at Walmart by Customer Service).
  • Choose the "Cash in Coins" option, then "Free Coin Counting" button
  • Select the retail store for your card
  • Pour your coins in the tray
  • The machine will vend your card right then and there. Plus, you should get a form at the end of your receipt to send in for your bonus $10. See all details here and here.

More Savings at Gap, Banana Republic, Old Navy...

Yippie!! I missed out on the GAP savings through last Sunday, so I'm happy to see that there is another opportunity to save!!! GAP is hosting their annual Give & Get program again, where you can pick a charity to benefit, and in return you get a 30% savings coupon. I pulled this from KCPennyPinchinMama's site, so this coupon has already been registered (therefor, you cannot pick a charity). But, you can certainly print the coupon and save 30% at GAP, Banana Republic, or Old Navy (in-store only) November 12-15. Yeah!! Oh--what's even better: this is also valid at GAP outlet and BR Factory Store!

25% off at GAP

Thinking of grabbing a few things off your Christmas list at Gap?? Do so through Sunday, Nov 8th with this coupon to receive 25% off your purchase!

More Toy Deals!!!

Okay, I was told by a friend that this Uno Moo! game is super cute. I've not yet seen it in the stores, and from researching it online, I've found that it's out of stock at both Toys 'R Us and Target online. BUT--KCPennyPinchin'Mama posted a Rocky the Robot truck deal at Mattel.com (something that's definitely on my Christmas list), so I checked it out and found that you can get the Uno game through Mattel for cheap with a coupon code, too!! So here's a recap of both deals available right now:

First, you gotta sign up/sign in at Shop at Home. If you aren't familiar with the site, check out my post here. Search for Mattel, and click "shop now," so that you'll earn 3% cash back on your purchase. This will take you directly to the Mattel site. Now on to the deals:

Rocky the Robot truck is priced at $59.99. Normall I would say this is no great deal since it is priced at Walmart right now for $49.99. BUT, the magic comes with the coupon code. Not to mention this toy ships FREE!!

Uno Moo! is another toy that ships FREE!!! This is priced at $20.99. (When searching online I found that Target has it priced the same, but is out of stock; Walmart has it for $19.88, and Toys 'R Us has it priced at just $14.99, but also out of stock). Anyway, the deal comes with the coupon code.

Use code MATTEL30 when you check out to get 30% off your total purchase!! So, shop around the site and see what else you need off your list that could possibly ship free too!! 30% off ain't bad!!! I was able to add Rocky and Uno Moo! to my cart for a grand total of $56.69 SHIPPED! And the best part is that I didn't even have to leave my house!! Who needs Santa's sleigh when you got UPS?!?

Oh--and don't forget the 3% cash back I'll earn from Shop At Home, an additional $1.70 savings. Nothing to sneeze at!

Yeah!!! Target Printable Toy Coupons !!!

Okay, Halloween is over, Christmas music is on the radio waves, and my Christmas list ain't gettin' any shorter. Time to dig in and get that shopping done. If you are like me, then you haven't been able to find the Target toy book in store. Remember this book/catalog from last year?? It was chalk full of COUPONS!!! OH--And might I remind you that these are TARGET coupons, and can ABSOLUTELY be stacked with manufacturer coupons. Yeah!!

Well, who needs the in-store copy when you can print the ones you want straight from your computer. Head on over here to see the entire list. I'll keep my thinking cap on and eyes peeled for some great coupon match-ups. Right off the top of my head I'm thinking the $4 Hasbro Hungry Hippo Q everyone has been using for the travel game could be stacked with the $5 Hasbro TQ to score a VERY inexpensive Giraffalaff Limbo game... And what about the Tag Reading system...Toys 'R Us has it priced at $39.99 (in their "Biggest Big Book EVER"). Price Match, use the $10 TQ and the $10 Tag printable, and score yourself a Tag system for just $19.99!! I'm headed to Target for this one for sure!!
